FCNR(B) deposits attracts $127.33 billion

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced that forex inflows under its special USD-INR forex swap facility reached $136.38 billion as of 31 August 2026, based on provisional data from authorized dealer banks. This amount included $127.23 billion from Foreign Currency Non-Resident (Bank) [FCNR(B)] deposits, $5.26 billion from overseas foreign currency borrowings (OFCBs), and $3.89 billion from external commercial borrowings (ECBs). The RBI introduced this facility on 8 June 2026, with the FCNR(B) deposits scheme open until 31 August 2026 and the ECBs and OFCBs facility open until 31 December 2026. The figures are provisional and may change after final reporting.
