China indices rebound on stimulus hope
02-Nov-26   17:37 Hrs IST

Chinese equities demonstrated a rebound on Monday’s trading session, recouping losses following a decline to greater than one-year lows in the preceding session. The Shanghai Composite advanced 1.08% to settle at 3,638, whereas the Shenzhen Component registered a gain of 1.63% to reach 11,010.7.

Equities responded favorably to indications of new regulatory support for the market. Discussions are underway regarding potential adjustments to facilitate increased bank lending for share repurchase programs. Furthermore, a significant state-owned banking institution intends to allocate up to 200 billion yuan ($30 billion) in supplementary financing to two state asset management entities affiliated with the National Team.

Economic indicators continued to reflect underlying fragility. China's manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index dipped to a three-month trough of 49.3 in October 2026, a decrease from 50.1 in September. The non-manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index also retreated to 49.7 from 50.2, signaling contraction for the sixth time this year.

PetroChina registered a gain of 1.30%, Kweichow Moutai advanced 3.38%, CATL rose 3.12%, and BYD increased by 3.06% among the top performers.
